2022 Pinot Gris Reserve

2022 Pinot Gris Reserve

Our Reserve series wines have a higher percentage of fruit from our premier vineyard sites and partners. Our Pinot Gris Reserve is sourced from northern Willamette Valley vineyards, including Yamhill, Tukwilla, and our own Lange Estate vineyards. By blending fruit from multiple sites and from different aging vessels (stainless steel, concrete, and French oak puncheons), father and son duo Don and Jesse Lange, have translated the vintage into a single cuvée while showcasing all the versatility and range pinot gris is capable of expressing. The result is a wine with impeccable balance, richness, and textural elegance.

I enjoyed the 2022 Reserve Pinot Gris from Lange a lot more than I thought I would. Presenting a light to medium lemon core with a silvery rim in the glass, it’s a delicious treat of fresh yellow peach, white nectarine, ride cantaloupe, and candied pineapple with secondary notes of Dahlia flowers and fresh mint. A touch oily on the palate with a lush, rich mouthfeel, it finishes long and juicy on the back palate. 2023-2028 - Jeremy Young

The really good 2022 Lange ‘Reserve’ Pinot Gris is a deep and concentrated version of this wine. It maintains a sterling sense of freshness once on the mouth, with layers of white peach, green papaya, and hints of mango, giving this an exotic edge. Very fresh and nicely textured, enjoy now and over the next five-plus years. Drink 2023-2029

92 Points | Northwest Wine Report
This wine is still aromatically in its shell, with light aromas of pear, yellow apple, and a whiff of petroleum jelly. The flavors are medium-bodied, showing class and detail. An exceptionally long finish is the capstone. While the Classique is all about exuberant fruit, this Reserve brings seriousness, balance, and length. 13.3% alcohol. Screwcap.

The 2022 Pinot Gris Reserve has a more serious and elegant feel, with a delicate lift of flint, fresh pear, citrus blossom, and melon rind. Medium to full-bodied, it’s silky textured, with a clean finish and good concentration. A quite charming wine, it will hold up nicely over the next 4-5 years.

Peach and toasted filbert aromas are joined by traces of earth and white flowers. Medium-bodied, with a creamy texture and ripe peach, lime and guava flavors. Aged and fermented in a combination of neutral French oak and concrete. — Michael Alberty
