A rare geological narrative, ‘Windborne’ shares the story of fine sediment, which traveled thousands of miles and yields some of the region's most distinctive wines. Captivating aromas of pie cherry, dark fruit, flinty petrichor, and dewy rose petal evolves on the palate - a harmonious blend of bright acidity, dried herb, and deep earthy tannins.
Post-Ice Age Loess: A geological rarity in the valley, Lange Estate only produces wine from this iconic soil type for this series. After the ice age around 10,000 years ago, glacial rocks and silt were carried by streams and floods, eventually settling in the water basins of the Pacific Northwest. Once settled and dried, thousands of years of battering winds and weather swept then deposited the fine soil in the foothills of the northern Willamette Valley, to produce some of the finest and most distinct wines in the valley.
