The latest addition to the Lange portfolio. Nestled near the serene Luckiamute River 30 miles south of the winery, this new acquisition brings a fresh perspective and exciting opportunities to our portfolio and production.
Lucky River Vineyard, with its established vines, captures new dimensions of flavor from the Willakenzie soil for the Lange portfolio. As we develop our understanding of this site, we find that this wine frames profiles that complement our style and expose a greater lens for the flavor spectrum. Lange has always strived for something more Burgundian and yet uniquely Oregonian. Our newest Pinot Noir sits in a single-vineyard tier of wines including our own Lange Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir, Freedom Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir, and Yamhill - Carlton Assemblage Pinot Noir. As we court these new vines, we hope to show you why it was love at first ‘site’.

"This is the inaugural vintage of this wine that comes from a site roughly six miles south of the Freedom Hill Vineyard and set on Willakenzie soils. Vines are 22 years old, mainly Pommard, 115 and 777 clonal selection. The nose is wonderfully earthy with white truffle shavings, hazelnut and suggestions of white pepper alongside bright red fruits. The palate is fresh and beautifully textured with good sense of stuffing and bright acidity. Beautiful now, enjoy this well-balanced beauty now and over the next fifteen years. Drink 2024-2038"

“The four single-vineyard wines are bottled under cork. The first release of this wine, the 2022 Pinot Noir Lucky River Vineyard is a medium red ruby color and comes from 22-year-old vines on Willakenzie soils. On the nose, it delivers layered and spicy aromas of incense, red cherries, wild herbs, and cedar, and it’s medium-bodied and approachable on the palate, with ripe tannins, fresh acidity, and a delicate spice through the long finish. It has a lovely floral flourish on the palate and is going to show its best over the next 7-8 years.”—Audrey Frick

“A remarkably pretty and perfumed blend of sweet violets, lavender, blackberries and wet stones wafts up from the 2022 Pinot Noir Lucky River Vineyard. It's round and supple, possessing silken waves of ripe wild berry fruits complicated by hints of spiced citrus. This finishes energetic and crisp, leaving a bed of fine tannins on the close, yet in the end, it tapers off incredibly fresh.”—Eric Guido. Drinking Window 2024-2029
